This book takes place in various areas in Europe during 1914 (maps can tell you a lot). The map is illustrated with all the land areas as mechanical parts. Because of this illustration, I think that everybody's way of getting around s through crazy machines I've never heard of or some sort of car/plane. These crazy machines are like big humans with cannons coming out of them (below) (well, some of them are, others are much bigger and can be more legs meaning more cannons).
There are some pictures in this book too. The book was illustrated by Keith Thompson. Having pictures in there once in a while helps you imagine the characters better and know what's really going on. It is also nice because in really long books like this, you kind of get bored if they aren't good stories, and you just want to abandon the book; but the pictures kind of make it more fun and less, "when can I stop?"

Seems like a good book. Might read it, and cool pictures.
ReplyDeleteIt seems interesting how they switch off characters every 3 chapters, so you can really see what its like for both characters. It seems like a hard book and that would probably help the reader understand it more. Nice post!
ReplyDeleteThe pictures are really amazing, and it was cool for you to add them to your post because it really makes the reader more interested in the book. It sounds like a really good book.
